mike was a close friend back in the powell days. he has passed from his hep c.
i've known mike 25 years. he really wanted galen and my son devlin to meet...i hope that can happen some day. i'm glad we got to spend time driving around to old stomping grounds like the farm for shits and giggles last year. i'll have to find the pics.
i wish he had said something about his health going downhill recently. i would love to go to the memorial, but i am in portland. i hope he went well, and with conscious intention for his next step. mike was one of the few people in the scene who had a heart of gold...so many people lost their humanity, their lives...there's not enough left.
you are loved and will be missed, mike. condolences to his son galen and his wife.

Re: RIP mike tsongas aka mike nomohawk
Sun, October 18, 2009 - 10:53 AMI was truly sorry to hear about his passing. Mike was an extremely nice guy. The last time Mike and I spoke things were going well. I had no idea that he was not going to make. I think we should band together and do something to show his fmaily that he was a loved member of the punk community. So let's get rolling here people. After all, we have to take care of one another.

Re: RIP mike tsongas aka mike nomohawk
Sun, October 18, 2009 - 9:08 PMI was just reading a reply from Mike to something I wrote about my sister Alex passing away.. thinking to myself what a nice person to reach out to me like that although we were not close. Then I read this.. I'm so sad. I talked to mike last year briefly with intentions to meet in Berkley at Cal for a series of Films in local punk history.. I got an extra ticket and invited him to meet me and my 17 year old son. Mike called me from the hospital that day and said sorry for not being able to meet me.. sorry? I said your in the hospital.. a ticket means nothing! I asked how he was and he said not very good, but was hopeful to recover asap and get back into the swing of things. I'm so sorry I never checked on him. my heart goes out to his wife and son, whom he was so very proud of. my message to mike is "thank you for your kindness, Mike" please tell me sister I love her and to watch out for each other. XOXOX
