1. rarely come around here but thought you guys would like to know that bob is home with his family for his final days with terminal liver failure. if you have any stories you would like to share or anything you'd like passed along before he's gone, please do so, otherwise if you're on myspace, leave your comments on our blog and we'll pass along. we thought he'd get a kick out of old memories as he fades out. toni drove up to santa cruz with joe dirt and nicki sicki to visit and he's still hanging on as of today...

2. virginia fuckette passed away recently, sad news to hear she died after getting caught up in old vices and homelessness, r.i.p.

3. spike's murder trial is on hold but in the mean time her rottweiler, sandy needs to be re-homed ASAP. if you think you can help please let me know. marc dagger, jr. is struggling with his mom's death and can't keep her. we adopted her german shepherd, caesar and can't take in another dog.

thanks.

    • Sadly, we seem to lose more and more people with each passing year. Our lifestyles have a way of catching up with us years later. However, I look at this as a reason for us to get a little closer (don't worry, I'm not getting sentimental in my old age. I still kick puppies and small children for sport). I saw Bob at the Ruthies Inn Reunion show in 2006. While he was amazingly drunk and grumpy as always he still managed to pull out a bit of charm during our conversation, which went something like this:

"Bob, how the hell are you?" Johnny said in the tone of a happy idiot.
"Who the fuck are you? Oh yeah, that dope from No Doubt." Spoken in a slur.
"That's No Alternative, Bob, No Alternative not No Doubt."
"I know Johnny, it was a joke. Is there any more beer back here?"
"I'm glad to see you to Bob." I said sheepishly.
"Buuurrrrrpppppp, sorry man." Said Bob with a slur in his voice.

We talked for about ten minutes. I marveled that he hadn't changed much. I was actually glad at the moment since things change around us as we grow older and always for the better. He didn't look bad when I saw him. I mean, he was drunk but usually there are signs of chronic alcoholism that appear prior to the beginning stages of Organ failure. He showed no signs of jaundice in the eyes or of the skin. He didn't exhibit other signs of his upcoming problems. Sorry, this medical school thing gets me medically analyzing everything and everyone. I didn't know Bob well, but he was one of us and always will be. This meant that he was family. Being a member of our great big disfunctional family meant that he had been through what we had and lived as we have. I was truly saddened by his passing. Can anyone tell me if he had a wife, children, etc. I would like to know and perhaps get some addresses so I can send them a note. Thanks......Hugh aka Johnny. Thanks Rachel and Toni for doing the myspace memorial stuff. It's a grim task these days.
    • Just found this tribe by accident, after thinking about the Spikes and Dave Delinquent, which led me to the news about Bob.

I am so saddened. And I didn't know Bob was here in Santa Cruz. Glad he was back with his family. Is there a memorial site here in Santa Cruz?

Bob and I met late one night on the bus that drove from SJ to SF on El Camino (7F?)...1979. We hung out over the years - at the Vats, in the Mission...wherever I bumped into him on my skateboard. Loved that bloke with the shit eating grin!

Last time I saw him was actually here in Santa Cruz at the Alcapulco Restaurant downtown at least 15 years ago. I didn't know that he had famioly here. He was with an asian chick. I ducked out since I was clean and didn't want any temptations...that grin got me everytime.

  • How incredibly sad. Wish I'd've seen this a month
ago, not that it would have made much difference.
I do have a small memory of Bob. It was 1979 or so
in San Jose and I don't know if he was living with
Sid Terror and Chris at the time or if he was just
there visiting them, but it was in this two-story
old house in San Jose and I remember playing with
wind-up toys with him on the kitchen floor. We
were both laughing our asses off. Years later
after we'd both moved to San Francisco I remember
making out with him in the men's room at Sound of
Music. And then another time visiting him in a
small flat he lived in under the overpass at
Market / Octavia...Elgin Park? and he showed me
a bunch of flyers for shows he'd been working on.
My memories of Bob are as of a cuddly teddy bear.
    My condolences to his family.
    • 1983, Bob, Roy Herder, Bill Halen and others cramed 8 deep in my Celica up to The Dish way past midnight drinking Thunderbird with the locals, my east bay ass thinking we would get jumped any minute. Ended up that morning in the Tool & Die doing speed and then I headed off to work.
Just a blink but one of my memories non the less...
Very sad to hear about Bob, because I survived to raise a family and end up doing "something" (?) with my life and feel guilty about those who have passed when I know very well I should have passed a dozen times over.

How is Nicki Sicki doing? found a old phone book years ago with his moms # but it was disconnecuted. The long day and nights with Nicki and Bill so much speed . My mind is lost right now I haven't heard these names in 20 years. Is Bill Halen still with us?
